The Vancouver Whitecaps signed veteran defender Bjorn Inge Utvik of Norway through the 2025 season.

The deal announced Tuesday includes a 2026 club option for Utvik, who will occupy an international roster slot.

Utvik, 27, has made more than 240 appearances as a professional in Norway since 2012.

“We are excited to welcome Bjorn and his family to the club and city” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Bjorn brings a lot of experience and leadership to our group. In addition to being aggressive in the air, he wins a lot of duels overall and he is also comfortable on the ball in possession.”

Utvik registered four goals and two assists in 31 matches (30 starts) in 2023 as the Sarpsborg 08 captain.
