New York City FC signed midfielder Keaton Parks to a contract extension through the 2026 season with options through 2028.

Financial terms were not released for the contract, which was announced Friday.

“Keaton has been a hugely important player for us over several years, becoming a key piece not only in our midfield but also for our team and brings such a unique skillset to the pitch,” NYCFC sporting director David Lee said in a news release. “Entering the best years of his career, Keaton has consistently become one of the best midfielders in the league and is someone we wanted to reward and make sure that he stayed with the club.”

Parks, 26, played in 32 MLS games with 30 starts in 2023, collecting two goals and three assists. He has 12 goals and 11 assists in 126 regular-season games (104 starts) and has appeared in five playoff games (two starts) over five years with NYCFC.

The native of Plano, Texas, was on loan to NYCFC from Portugal’s S.L. Benfica in 2019 and became a permanent transfer in 2020.

He has appeared in 152 matches, totaling 14 goals and six assists across all competitions with the club. He was part of the club’s MLS Cup (2021) and Campeones Cup (2022) championship squads.

“I couldn’t be happier to extend my stay with New York City. It’s a club and city that have welcomed me and my family with open arms and now holds a dear place in my heart,” Parks said. “The last five years have been amazing through all the ups and downs. Helping this club win trophies is something that I will always remember. I look forward to continuing to work hard and lead by example to help this team achieve its goals this season and beyond.”
