Wizards District Gaming, who finished with the second-worst record in the NBA 2K League last year, selected Benjamin “Benzo” Bernstein of Montclair, N.J., with the first overall selection in the 2024 draft on Thursday.

The Wizards selected NBA 2K League veteran Xavier “Type” Vescovi in the second round at No. 25 overall. Type has experience with Warriors Gaming Squad, Hornets Venom GT, Knicks Gaming and Raptors Uprising GC.

Wizards District Gaming coach and general manager Patrick Crossan said in a statement, “We’re thrilled to welcome an elite level talent and instant difference maker like Benzo to Wizards District Gaming. Coupled with Type and our returning veteran core, we believe we have built a roster that can compete with any in this league. We can’t wait to get the 2024 season started as we look to add more hardware to our trophy case.”

A total of 35 players were drafted in the event at Full Sail Live in Orlando.

Damian “tutak” Tutak of Clearwater, Fla., went second overall to T-Wolves Gaming, and Julian “jbooiin” Manzanares of Ocala, Fla., was chosen third overall by Magic Gaming.

Kings Guard Gaming picked Andy “Tearitoffem” Fernandez at No. 4, and the T-Wolves rounded out the top five by choosing Frankie “Igymo” Mule.

All 25 NBA 2K League teams completed their five-man rosters during the draft.

Warriors Gaming Squad are the reigning NBA 2K League 5v5 champions after beating expansion team NBL Oz Gaming in the championship match last August. DUX Infinitos downed Pistons GT to capture the 3v3 crown in May.
