Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby was named to his 10th NHL All-Star Game and Chicago Blackhawks wunderkind Connor Bedard was named to his first as the first group of 2024 All-Star selections were revealed on Thursday evening.

The league unveiled one player from every team who will participate in All-Star Weekend next month in Toronto. A fan vote will decide the remaining 12 All-Stars.

Crosby, 36, ended a three-year absence from the game when he was selected last year. His 10 selections trail only Mario Lemieux’s 13 in Penguins history. He has 38 points with a team-high 21 goals for Pittsburgh this season.

NHL points leader Nikita Kucherov (63) will represent the Tampa Bay Lightning, and goals leader Auston Matthews (30) was selected for the host Toronto Maple Leafs.

When the Western Conference’s All-Stars were revealed during the first intermission of the Penguins’ game against the Boston Bruins, the headliner was Bedard, the No. 1 overall pick in last summer’s draft. While the Blackhawks reside in last place in the Central Division, the 18-year-old Bedard has acclimated to NHL life quickly, leading the team in both goals (15) and assists (18) through 37 games.

Other notable choices were stars Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche.
