The Philadelphia Union signed forward Chris Donovan to a new contract through the 2025 MLS season.

The deal announced Tuesday with the 23-year-old Donovan includes club options for 2026 and 2027.

Donovan tallied one goal and one assist in 18 MLS matches (four starts) during the 2023 regular season.

In the playoffs, he scored the game-winner against New England to push the Union into the East semifinals.

“Throughout his time with the Union, Chris has capitalized on every opportunity given and has played an important role in games of consequence,” sporting director Ernst Tanner said. “He is committed to furthering his development which is evident by the impressive strides he’s made over the last two years, especially in this past season. We look forward to his continued contributions in the years to come.”

A suburban Philadelphia native, Donovan made his MLS debut in 2022 and played in six matches (one start).
