Sporting Kansas City announced the acquisition Friday of forward Alenis Vargas on a transfer from Costa Rica’s Futbol Consultants Deseamparados.

The 20-year-old Honduras native signed a three-year MLS contract through 2026 with a club option for 2027. He will occupy an international roster slot.

On loan from FCD in 2023, Vargas recorded six goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the MLS NEXT Pro side Sporting KC II.
