Pyotr Kochetkov made 25 saves in goal to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 road win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

Jack Drury and Jordan Staal each scored goals for the Hurricanes, who have won two straight after a four-game losing streak.

Michael Rasmussen scored the lone goal of the game for the Red Wings, who have lost four of five.

Carolina opened the scoring with 15:12 remaining in the first period on a goal by Drury, who from the right of Detroit goalie Ville Husso redirected a pass from Stefan Noesen for a 1-0 lead.

The goal came after Carolina kept pressure in Detroit’s zone after the Red Wings killed a Carolina power play.

Detroit tied the score with 14:40 remaining in the second period when Rasmussen took a pass from Andrew Copp and fired a wrist shot from the right face-off circle that went underneath the crossbar and into the net.

The goal came after the Hurricanes turned the puck over just in front of the blue line as they were trying to start a rush up the ice.

The Hurricanes regained the lead with 8:11 left in the second when Staal pounced on a loose puck in front of the Detroit goal and poked the puck into an empty net. Husso had come out to play the puck, but missed it and then it caromed off of the boards out in front of the goal to Staal.

Detroit had a chance to tie the score when it got a power play with 5:44 remaining, but couldn’t cash in on the opportunity.

Detroit’s efforts to pull Husso and gain an extra attacker were hindered when Copp went off for tripping with 2:53 remaining.

The Red Wings killed the penalty, but couldn’t get the equalizer after finally being able to pull Husso for an extra attacker.

Husso ended up making 37 saves in defeat for Detroit.
