Expansion side Bay FC acquired two players as part of transactions involving multiple NWSL teams before the conclusion of Tuesday morning’s trade window ahead of Friday’s expansion draft.

Bay FC obtained defender Dorian Bailey from the Spirit in exchange for granting Washington expansion draft protection.

“Dorian is a dynamic player and made a significant and lasting impact on the Spirit organization as a whole,” Spirit president of soccer operations/general manager Mark Krikorian said in a statement. “She played an important role in the club’s success both on and off the pitch and we wish her the best as she continues her professional career with Bay FC.”

Bailey was a key player on Washington’s 2021 league championship team. A midfielder and defender, she had one goal and three assists in 97 appearances across all competitions.

Washington also is sending its two second-round picks (Nos. 20 and 21 overall) in January’s 2024 NWSL Draft to Utah Royals FC for expansion draft protection. Neither Bay FC nor the Royals will be able to pick a current Spirit player in the expansion draft.

Bay FC obtained forward Scarlett Camberos from Angel City Football Club in exchange for $50,000 in allocation money and draft protection. Camberos signed with ACFC in March and had two goals and five assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this year.

“The deal made for Scarlett Camberos to go to Bay FC serves both the club’s competitive goals and Scarlett’s desired path of development,” Angel City general manager Angela Hucles Mangano said in a statement. “We wish her nothing but the best in her bright young career.”

Angel City gave Utah Royals FC $100,000 and a 2024 international spot to receive draft protection.

In a three-team trade, Racing Louisville received second- and third-round draft picks from NJ/NY Gotham FC and sent $130,000 in allocation money to Bay FC, who gave Gotham expansion protection.

Louisville now has five picks in January’s draft, including two natural selections — the No. 6 overall pick (first round) and the 48th overall pick (fourth round). Gotham’s picks slot at No. 28 and No. 42. Racing previously acquired the 15th overall pick (second round) from Bay in exchange for draft protection. Louisville also sent Bay FC a third-round pick in that deal.

The NWSL will announce the list of each club’s protected players on Wednesday.
