Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is not expected to play Thursday at Las Vegas after fracturing a finger on his throwing hand in Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos, ESPN reported.

Herbert is set for a consult with Dr. Steven Shin to determine the extent of the injury and how much time he’s likely to miss, per the report.

Herbert left Sunday’s game in the second quarter after throwing an incomplete pass on fourth-and-2 at the Broncos’ 29-yard line. The Chargers initially ruled him questionable to return before determining he couldn’t continue. Easton Stick entered the game at quarterback.

Herbert was just 9-of-17 passing for 96 yards and an interception before exiting. Stick went on to complete 13 of 24 passes for 179 yards.

Herbert was already playing with a fractured finger on his left hand. He suffered that injury back in Week 4 but has not missed a start.

With only four weeks left in the regular season, Herbert’s 2023 campaign could be over. The 25-year-old has thrown for 3,134 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven picks in 13 games this season.

Sunday’s loss dropped the Chargers to 5-8.
