NBA: Kyrie Irving (right foot) exits Mavericks game vs. Blazers

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving injured his right foot during the second quarter of Friday night’s road game against the Portland Trail Blazers and will miss the rest of the game.

The Mavericks Irving’s injury status just past the midway point of the third quarter. Irving had 11 points in 13 minutes before exiting with 3:49 left in the first half.

Irving was injured on a play in which he drove toward the hoop and was fouled by Portland’s Duop Reath. Irving fell to the ground, just before the body of teammate Dwight Powell landed hard on Irving’s lower right leg.

Irving was attended to by trainers for a few moments before staying in to shoot his free throws with 3:51 left in the quarter. He made both. Two seconds later, the Mavericks intentionally committed a foul so they could remove Irving and the eight-time All-Star immediately left for the locker room.

Seth Curry started the second half in place of Irving.
