Veteran left-hander Wade Miley signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal on Monday to return to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Miley, 37, was with the Brewers in 2018, then returned to Milwaukee last season on a one-year, $4.5 million contract. He was 9-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 23 starts last season.

The new deal will pay Miley $7 million in 2024, with a $1.5 million buyout on a $12 million mutual option for 2025. He passed a physical on Monday to finalize the pact.

“The first thing is, I needed to really reflect on whether I was 100 percent going to play again,” Miley said, according to MLB.com. “That’s more so what went into it than where. I love it here. My family loves it here.”

An All-Star in 2012 as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Miley is 108-98 in 13 major league seasons and has a 4.06 ERA in 315 appearances (308 starts) for the Diamondbacks (2011-14), Boston Red Sox (2015), Seattle Mariners (2016), Baltimore Orioles (2016), Houston Astros (2019), Cincinnati Reds (2020-21), Chicago Cubs (2022) and Brewers.

Miley also finished second in the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year voting when he was 16-11 with a 3.33 ERA in 32 appearances (29 starts) for Arizona.

The Brewers also signed right-handed reliever Joe Ross to a major league deal, multiple outlets reported. Ross, 30, did not pitch in the major leagues last season after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery.

In six major league seasons, all with the Washington Nationals going back to 2015, Ross is 26-28 with a 4.26 ERA in 98 appearances (76 starts).
