San Antonio Spurs rookie center Victor Wembanyama has been ruled out against Zion Williamson and the host New Orleans Pelicans on Friday due to tightness in his right hip.

The game is the first Wembanyama will miss this season.

Wembanyana played through the issue and recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals in the Spurs’ 137-135 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said after the contest that Wembanyama might not play on Friday.

Wembanyama, 19, boasts team-leading averages in points (19.3), rebounds (9.7), blocks (2.7) and steals (1.3) for the Spurs (3-15), who have lost 13 in a row.
