The Carolina Panthers placed offensive lineman Chandler Zavala on injured reserve with a knee issue, keeping the rookie out for at least four games.

Zavala, 24, has started seven of the 10 games he has played for the Panthers, who have won just one game this season and fired head coach Frank Reich this week.

Zavala, who left Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with his knee injury, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Panthers this year.

Earlier Wednesday, the Panthers signed veteran offensive lineman Gabe Jackson to their practice squad.

Jackson, 32, has started 130 games with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2014-20) and Seattle Seahawks (2021-22).

Jackson has played mostly at right guard since entering the NFL as a third-round draft pick in 2014.

In addition to Zavala’s injury, Panthers offensive lineman Cade Mays is dealing with an ankle injury.
