The Chicago White Sox agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.75 million contract with shortstop Paul DeJong.

Outfielder Adam Haseley was designated for assignment Tuesday to make room for DeJong on the 40-man roster.

DeJong, 30, batted a combined .207 with 14 homers and 38 RBIs in 112 games with three teams in 2023.

He is a career .229 hitter with 116 homers in 729 games with the St. Louis Cardinals (2017-23), Toronto Blue Jays (2023) and San Francisco Giants (2023).

An Illinois State University product who attended Antioch (Ill.) High School, DeJong was the runner-up for National League Rookie of the Year in 2017 and made the All-Star team in 2019.

Haseley, 27, hit .222 (8-for-36) with two doubles, two RBI and six runs scored in 28 games with Chicago last season.
