Tim Stutzle scored with two seconds remaining in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Global Series Sweden on Thursday in Stockholm.

During a scramble in the Wings’ zone, Drake Batherson sent a pass that deflected off a defender’s stick. Stutzle took a waist-high whack at the puck as goaltender James Reimer ducked. The puck sailed over Reimer’s head and into the net.

Ottawa, which led 4-0 midway through the second period, got two goals from Brady Tkachuk. Jake Sanderson and Josh Norris had the Senators’ other regulation goals. Joonas Korpisalo made 37 saves.

Lucas Raymond, Daniel Perron, Alex DeBrincat and Shayne Gostisbehere scored four straight goals in the second period for the Red Wings. Gostisbehere finished with three points and Reimer made 29 saves.

The Senators grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first period, with Stutzle providing two assists.

Ottawa took the lead on a power-play goal. Reimer saved a shot by Stutzle but Batherson collected the rebound. His shot deflected off Tkachuk and past the Detroit goalie.

The Senators scored four minutes later when Stutzle made a nifty backhanded pass despite being knocked to the ice. He found Tkachuk in front of the net for an easy tap-in.

During a 4-on-4 situation at 13:09 of the period, Sanderson ripped a shot from the left circle that beat Reimer.

Norris fired a shot from the right circle that slipped between Reimer’s pads to give Ottawa a 4-0 lead 1:18 into the second period.

The Wings roared back, scoring four goals in the final 10:21 of the period to tie it at 4-all. Raymond, the lone Swede on Detroit’s roster, scored on a breakaway.

Their next goal came when Olli Maatta took a shot from the point that J.T. Compher deflected with his stick. The puck bounced off Perron’s body and over Korpisalo.

DeBrincat scored off a feed from Gostisbehere before Gostisbehere tied it when he pushed the puck from the right circle toward the net. It deflected off two defenders and past Korpisalo.

Detroit killed off a couple of penalties late in regulation and Reimer saved a breakaway attempt by Tkachuk during overtime.
