Riley Patterson made a 41-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Detroit Lions a wild 41-38 win over the host Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in Inglewood, Calif.

Jared Goff passed for 333 yards, including a key fourth-down completion on the final drive, and two touchdowns for Detroit (7-2). Amon-Ra St. Brown caught eight passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.

David Montgomery rushed for 116 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown. Jahmyr Gibbs added 77 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Justin Herbert passed for 323 yards and four touchdowns for the Chargers (4-5). Keenan Allen caught 11 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

Austin Ekeler added 115 scrimmage yards (67 rushing, 48 receiving) along with a rushing score.

Goff delivered a 25-yard scoring pass to tight end Brock Wright off play action to make it 38-31 Lions with 7:30 left.

Los Angeles tied it with 3:34 to go on Herbert’s 38-yard, fourth-down pass to Allen.

The Lions went 53 yards on the game’s final drive, with Goff finding Sam LaPorta for 6 yards on fourth-and-2 to get into range for Patterson’s kick.

Detroit led 24-17 at halftime.

The Lions scored first on Patterson’s 33-yard field goal. The Chargers tied it on Cameron Dicker’s 48-yard field goal.

Gibbs scored on a 1-yard run to finish off Detroit’s next possession.

Kerby Joseph picked off a Herbert pass but a Chargers goal-line stand prevented a score.

After Detroit got the ball back, it faced another fourth-and-goal. This time, Gibbs plunged in from the 1-yard line for a 17-3 lead.

Herbert connected with Allen over the middle on a 29-yard touchdown to briefly pull Los Angeles within a touchdown. But Detroit scored on its next play from scrimmage, as Montgomery burst through a huge hole up the middle, cut to his left and raced down the sideline on his 75-yard scoring run.

Ekeler scored from the 2 in the final minute of the half out to cap off a 75-yard drive.

Los Angeles tied it at 24 with a 92-yard drive during the third quarter. Herbert’s 18-yard scoring strike to Jalen Guyton finished it off.

The Lions regained the lead when St. Brown caught a short pass from Goff and raced 20 yards for the touchdown. The Chargers responded on their next drive with another touchdown, a fourth-down, 1-yard pass from Herbert to Quentin Johnston.
