The Buffalo Bills signed veteran defensive tackle Linval Joseph and placed cornerback Kaiir Elam on injured reserve Thursday.
Joseph, 35, spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles and has played in 179 games (170 starts) since the New York Giants made him a second-round pick in 2010.
The two-time Pro Bowl selection has tallied 25.5 sacks, 76 quarterback hits, 664 tackles and eight forced fumbles with the Giants (2010-13), Minnesota Vikings (2014-19), Los Angeles Chargers (2020-21) and Eagles.
Joseph can help to fill the void created when starting defensive tackle DaQuan Jones went on injured reserve last month with a torn pectoral muscle.
Elam, 22, was inactive for the first four games and then missed the Week 8 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an ankle injury. He has 14 tackles in three games (two starts) this season and won’t be eligible to return until the Week 14 game at Kansas City on Dec. 10.
A first-round pick (23rd overall) in 2022, Elam played in 13 games (six starts) during his rookie season and notched two interceptions and 41 tackles.
The Bills (5-3) visit the Cincinnati Bengals (4-3) on Sunday night.
