Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen is ready to return for Saturday’s game against visiting Akron, less than one week removed from having a medical episode at the team’s training facility.

“Liam will be in his normal capacity, which we’re just very grateful,” Wildcats coach Mark Stoops said on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. Stoops declined to go into specifics out of respect for Coen.

Coen, 37, previously thanked others on social media for “all the support and prayers” during the past few days.

“I’m doing much better, thankful for the care I received at UK Chandler Hospital, and can’t wait to see you Saturday at Kroger Field — Go Cats!” Coen posted on Twitter.

Coen, who called plays in the Wildcats’ wins over Ball State and Eastern Kentucky, returned to Kentucky as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in January after a season as the OC of the Los Angeles Rams. Coen also spent 2021 as the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator.
