The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to recall pitcher Gavin Stone and the rookie right-hander is expected to pitch in Sunday’s series finale on the road against the Boston Red Sox, the Orange County Register reported Saturday.

It was not clear if Stone would start Sunday’s game against the Red Sox or pick up innings after an opener.

Stone, 24, made his major league debut May 3 and did not have a decision with a 12.75 ERA in four appearances (three starts). In 20 appearances (19 starts) at Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is 6-4 with a 5.04 ERA.

The Dodgers have a vacancy in the starting rotation after Tony Gonsolin likely was lost for the remainder of the season with right forearm inflammation. Right-hander Ryan Pepiot, who was just optioned to Oklahoma City, is also expected to play a role for Los Angeles down the stretch.
