Baltimore Ravens All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey is having foot surgery Wednesday but his absence won’t be a “long-term deal,” coach John Harbaugh confirmed.

Harbaugh said he couldn’t be more specific. Multiple outlets reported Humphrey would be sidelined 4-6 weeks, likely missing at least the first two games of the regular season.

Humphrey participated in Tuesday’s joint practice with the Washington Commanders, but Harbaugh said that’s not when the three-time Pro Bowl selection got hurt.

“It’s been a lingering thing and they took a look at it and said, ‘You know what, that’s something we want to take care of now instead of waiting,'” Harbaugh said.

Humphrey, 27, started all 17 games last season and posted 71 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions.

Since being drafted in the first round (16th overall) by Baltimore in 2017, Humphrey has recorded 347 tackles, 71 passes defensed, 13 forced fumbles and 12 interceptions in 90 games (72 starts).

It is the latest setback at a short-handed position for the Ravens, with the other projected starter, Rock Ya-Sin, out with a knee injury. Jalyn Armour-Davis and Arthur Maulet have not practiced since last week, while Pepe Williams (ankle) is out until October and Trayvon Mullen (toe) could miss the entire season.

The cornerbacks at Wednesday’s joint practice with Washington were Kevon Seymour, Brandon Stephens, Tae Hayes and rookies Kyu Kelly, Corey Mayfield Jr., Jordan Swann and Jeremy Lucien.

“This is next man up,” Seymour said. “We’ve been preparing all spring and all camp and we’re confident in all our guys. It’s not about one player. We’re going to miss Marlo and his presence on the field, but it’s more about the team and the scheme. We need all 11 players to execute the scheme. As long as everybody does their part, we’ll be fine. We have some great guys on the field that can step up.”

The Ravens kick off the regular season at home against the Houston Texans on Sept. 10 before traveling to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
