LOL: Dignitas top TSM, stay alive in LCS playoffs

Dignitas earned a 3-2 win in a back-and-forth match against TSM in the first round of the League Championship Series playoffs’ losers bracket on Thursday.

Dignitas opened with a 27-minute win on red before TSM posted a 39-minute victory on blue. Following Dignitas’ 23-minute triumph on blue, TSM again pulled level, prevailing in 46 minutes on red. Dignitas took the decisive fifth map in 36 minutes on blue.

The United States’ Frank “Tomo” Lam logged a 25-13-32 kill-death assist ratio, while teammate Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen of Denmark wound up at 24-11-30. The United States’ David “Insanity” Challe wound up at 25-12-25 for TSM.

After the regular season, the first- and second-place teams headed to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The third- through sixth-place teams opened the playoffs in the upper-bracket quarterfinals. The seventh- and eighth-place teams entered the postseason in the lower bracket, while the ninth- and 10th-place teams were eliminated.

The top three teams in the playoffs will secure berths in the League of Legends World Championship, scheduled for Oct. 10-Nov. 19 in South Korea. The fourth-place team will head to the World Championship’s Wildcard Qualifier.

The other losers-bracket first-round match is scheduled for Friday, with 100 Thieves opposing Team Liquid.
