Chelsea Gray scored 25 points, A’ja Wilson added 24 points and 10 rebounds and the host Las Vegas Aces defeated the Indiana Fever 88-80 on Monday night.
Kelsey Plum added 17 points and Jackie Young scored 16 as the Aces (13-1) closed the game with an 11-2 run to beat the Fever for the second time in three days following a 101-88 victory on Saturday.
Aliyah Boston had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Fever (5-9). Erica Wheeler also had 20 points, NaLyssa Smith added 13 points and 14 rebounds and Kelsey Mitchell scored 14 points as Indiana connected on just 6 of 22 (27.3 percent) shot attempts from beyond the arc.
Young and Gray made consecutive baskets as the Aces scored the first four points of the third quarter to take a 52-49 lead.
Plum later scored five consecutive points to give Las Vegas a 66-61 lead. After a Wheeler basket, Alysha Clark made a 3-pointer, and the Aces took a 69-64 lead into the final quarter.
Gray’s jumper produced the only points of the first 4:29 of the fourth before Plum added a 3-pointer that produced a 74-64 lead with 5:31 remaining.
Wheeler made two 3-pointers and Kristy Wallace hit one as Indiana pulled within 75-74 with 3:48 to go.
A layup by Wheeler gave the Fever a 78-77 lead before Gray made consecutive jumpers to give Las Vegas an 81-78 advantage. Plum’s 3-pointer pushed the Aces’ lead to six with 1:06 left.
Mitchell scored 12 points and Boston had three points, eight boards and three assists in the first quarter. The Fever led by as many as six points in the period before holding a 23-20 lead by the end of the stanza.
Smith scored the Fever’s final four points of the first half as Indiana grabbed a 49-48 halftime lead. Wilson led all scorers through the first 20 minutes of action, posting 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
