Three West Virginia men’s basketball players now are in the transfer portal, signaling their potential to leave the program since the resignation of Hall of Fame coach Bob Huggins.
According to the 247Sports transfer portal, Tre Mitchell and Joe Toussaint put their names in the portal on Friday, along with Kerr Kriisa.
Huggins stepped down on June 17 following his arrest for suspicion of DUI in Pittsburgh. The players have a 30-day window to transfer without having to apply for a waiver or sit out for a season.
A 6-foot-9 forward, Mitchell played in all 34 games (32 starts) last season, averaging 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds. He has career averages of 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds at UMass (2019-21), Texas (2021-22) and West Virginia.
Toussaint, a 6-foot guard, averaged 9.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 34 games (one start) for the Mountaineers in 2022-23. He played 98 games over three seasons at Iowa before transferring to West Virginia.
Kriisa has yet to play for the Mountaineers since transferring from Arizona. The Estonia native led the Pac-12 with 180 assists during the 2022-23 season. He posted three-year averages of 9.4 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds and made 177 3-pointers in 76 games (70 starts) with the Wildcats.
