Jaiden “gallow” Frank made a go-ahead dunk with 8.9 seconds left, lifting the Gen.G Tigers to a 57-56 win over Cavs Legion GC on Friday in group play at the NBA 2K League’s The Turn event.
gallow finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Darjean “ReturnOfDJ” Henderson scored 18 points in the victory. Wahid “Faiz” Faiz had a game-high 20 points for the Cavs, and Yusuf “Yusuf_Scarbz” Abdulla logged 12 points and 12 rebounds.
In other Friday action, Pacers Gaming downed Kings Guard Gaming 66-55 thanks to 28 points and six assists from Kory “Chess” Taylor. NetsGC topped Hawks Talon GC 79-71 as Tariq “Greens” Reed scored 25 points and dished out nine assists. Warriors Gaming Squad bested Blazer5 Gaming 65-56 as Charlie “CB13” Bostwick produced 19 points and nine assists.
Knicks Gaming nipped 76ers GC 82-78 as Xavier “Type” Vescovi totaled 25 points and 10 rebounds. Jamaal “Mooch” Gill’s 16 points and 11 assists led Raptors Uprising GC to a 51-40 victory over NBL Oz Gaming. Wizards District Gaming beat Magic Gaming 75-58 with Alexander “Gloski” Pimentel notching 22 points and nine rebounds.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments — The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket — that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington. 76ers GC defeated T-Wolves Gaming to claim The Tipoff last week.
Remote group play in The Turn will establish the bracket for remote bracket play. The event will conclude with in-person tournament play at District E in Washington in late July.
