Charlotte FC announced the signing Thursday of Scottish midfielder Scott Arfield.
The 34-year-old veteran played the past five seasons at Scotland’s Rangers FC.
Arfield has recorded 89 goals and 42 assists in 661 matches in England and Scotland since 2007.
He competed internationally for Canada, earning 19 caps and scoring two goals from 2016-19.
“We’re delighted to be signing a midfielder of Scott’s caliber,” Charlotte sporting director Zoran Krneta said.
“… He brings a wealth of leadership experience in big matches to our dressing room, including three promotion-winning seasons in England, two trophies with Rangers, and a run to a European final.”
Arfield signed with Charlotte through 2024 with an option for 2025. He will occupy an international roster slot.
He can join the roster when the MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 5.
