Alex Palou maintained his spot atop the IndyCar Series standings on Sunday, cruising to a victory at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.

Palou, who started in pole position, beat defending champion Will Power by 1.1843 seconds to notch his second victory of the season. He led for 74 of the 100 laps, while Power led for 14.

Sunday’s race was held on the streets of downtown Detroit for the first time since 1991.

“It was a really busy race, honestly, but we had a really fast car,” Palou said. “We were really good on the first stint. I think we did the right strategy of just pushing.”

Felix Rosenqvist came in third, Scott Dixon placed fourth and Alexander Rossi rounded out the top five. Although he led the third-most laps (seven), Marcus Ericsson fell down the leaderboard and finished in ninth.
