D.C. United have acquired veteran striker Erik Hurtado from USL Championship side San Antonio FC.

D.C. paid a $10,000 transfer fee for the 32-year-old Hurtado, who is signed through 2023 with an option for 2024.

“We are getting an experienced MLS forward in Erik who will add important depth for us up top,” president of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a news release. “Erik is a great competitor who takes no plays off and we look forward to integrating him with our group.”

Hurtado played 10 seasons in MLS after being selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 SuperDraft.

He registered 22 goals and 11 assists in 154 matches (64 starts) with the Vancouver Whitecaps (2013-18), Sporting Kansas City (2019-20), CF Montreal (2021) and the Columbus Crew (2022).
