Top-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland successfully defended her title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Sunday with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in Stuttgart, Germany.

The world’s No. 1 ranked player, Swiatek captured her second singles title of 2023 and 13th career after winning Sunday’s match in 1 hour and 50 minutes. The Poland native improved to 5-2 all-time against Sabalenka, a run that includes a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the 2022 final.

Sabalenka, of Belarus, is ranked No. 2 in the world.

Swiatek won 77.5 percent of her first-serve points and 57.1 percent of her second-serve points on Sunday, as opposed to 67.3 and 36.4, respectively, for Sabalenka.

Sabalenka, who had five aces on Sunday, has fallen short in the final of the Stuttgart tournament in each of the past three years. She fell to Australian Ashleigh Barty in 2021.
