Knicks Gaming fell just short of completing a perfect run through qualifying for the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Switch Open, losing their finale 3-2 to Kings Guard Gaming on Friday.
The Knicks improved to 7-0 with a 3-1 victory over Grizz Gaming earlier on Friday. They dropped the first game against the Kings 21-17 before taking the next two 22-16 and 21-7. However, the Kings rallied to take the last two games 22-18 and 22-17, claiming the series 3-2.
The result left the Knicks tied for first place with Bucks Gaming (7-1), who were idle on Friday.
Pistons GT (6-2) moved into a tie for second place by sweeping Blazer5 Gaming 3-0, then getting past Heat Check Gaming 3-1. Pacers Gaming (6-2) downed Wizards District Gaming 3-1 but fell 3-1 to 76ers GC. DUX Infinitos, who were idle on Friday, also went 6-2.
In other Friday action, Pacers Gaming downed Wizards District Gaming 3-1, Heat Check Gaming beat Hawks Talon GC 3-1, Raptors Uprising GC edged T-Wolves Gaming 3-2, and T-Wolves Gaming handled Wizards District Gaming 3-1.
Mavs Gaming squeezed past Blazer5 Gaming 3-2 and upended Hawks Talon GC 3-1, while 76ers GC tripped Raptors Uprising GC 3-2 to complete their two-win night. Celtics Crossover Gaming also posted a pair of wins, 3-1 over Lakers Gaming and 3-0 over Grizz Gaming.
The Switch Open is the second 3v3 event of the NBA 2K League season. All of the league’s teams competed in qualifying matches that will determine seeding for bracket play.
