Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson left Tuesday night’s game against the visiting Seattle Mariners in the top of the sixth inning due to lower left-side tightness, according to Marquee Sports Network.

Swanson was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a run through the first five innings but took himself off the field prior to the start of the sixth. He motioned to the dugout after making a throw in warmups before exiting the game.

Swanson’s Cubs’ tenure is off to a stellar start, as he entered Tuesday batting .333 with three RBIs and nine runs while playing stellar defense in nine games after signing a seven-year, $177-million deal this offseason.

Chicago erased an early 7-0 deficit to lead 14-8 after seven innings.

Earlier Tuesday, Swanson’s wife, Mallory, said she underwent successful surgery for a torn patella tendon that she sustained on Saturday during the U.S. women’s national team’s match against Ireland.
