Garrett Mitchell capped a prolific series with a walk-off homer in the ninth inning Wednesday afternoon, leading the host Milwaukee Brewers to a three-game sweep of the New York Mets with a 7-6 win.

Mitchell, leading off the inning against Adam Ottavino (0-1), hit a full-count cutter well behind the right field fence for his third homer of the series. The Brewers hit nine homers in the series, during which they outscored the Mets 26-6.

Devin Williams (1-0) tossed a perfect ninth inning for the win.

Joey Wiemer hit his first big league homer, a three-run shot in the second, Jesse Winker had a two-run double and Owen Miller laced an RBI single for the Brewers. Winker and Luke Voit had two hits apiece.

Pete Alonso hit two homers and finished with four RBIs for the Mets. Francisco Lindor had three hits and two RBIs, but the rest of New York’s lineup combined for just two hits.

The Mets snapped a 20-inning scoring drought in the first, when Starling Marte was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second and scored on Lindor’s double.

The Brewers scored four runs in the second. Brian Anderson walked and Winker doubled before a two-pitch span in which Miller delivered an RBI single and Wiemer homered.

The Mets answered with their own rally on back-to-back pitches in the third. Lindor laced an RBI single and Alonso followed with a two-run homer. Lindor and Alonso teamed up again in the fifth, when Lindor doubled with one out and Alonso homered to center five pitches later.

The Brewers tied the game in the bottom of the inning, when Winker laced a two-out RBI single against Drew Smith.

Brewers starter Corbin Burnes allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 4 1/3 innings.

Mets starter David Peterson gave up five runs on five hits, five walks and five strikeouts in four innings.
