Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray exited Sunday night’s game against the visiting Detroit Red Wings with an apparent head injury.

Murray left with just under four minutes left in the first period after Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond slipped and accidentally swept through the goaltender’s legs, causing him to hit his neck and head on the ice.

Ilya Samsonov took over in net, and the Maple Leafs announced that Murray would not return. Prior to exiting, Murray stopped six of eight shots.

A third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2012 draft, Murray, 28, entered Sunday with a 14-8-2 record. He had a 2.97 goals-against average and .905 save percentage through 25 games, all starts.
