Notre Dame guard JJ Starling is entering the transfer portal after just one season with the Fighting Irish, multiple outlets reported Monday.

Starling, a five-star recruit in the Class of 2022, averaged 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 28 games (24 starts). From Baldwinsville, N.Y., he played his final two high school seasons at powerhouse La Lumiere School in Indiana.

He scored a career-high 23 points for the Irish against Bowling Green on Nov. 22, making 10 of 11 shots. On the season, he was a 42.1 percent shooter.

Notre Dame finished 11-21 (3-17 Atlantic Coast Conference) in the final season for coach Mike Brey, who stepped down at the conclusion of the season.
