Dylan Borrero, Bobby Wood and Brandon Bye each had a goal and an assist to lead the New England Revolution to a 3-0 win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday in Foxborough, Mass.

Borrero opened the scoring in the 42nd minute and Wood doubled the lead in the 53rd. Bye put the game away in the 65th minute.

Revs goalie Djordje Petrovic made five saves to record his second clean sheet in as many matches to open the season.

Houston (0-2-0, 0 points) controlled possession 53.6 percent of the time and completed 85.6 percent of its 568 passes. But the Dynamo couldn’t finish, as just four of their eight shots were on target.

New England (2-0-0, 6 points) had 11 shots, with five on target, and completed 83.8 percent of its 494 passes.

New England broke through in the 42nd minute. Wood placed a perfect pass down the right sideline to Bye, who delivered a cross into the penalty area. Borrero drove a low shot past diving goalie Steve Clark for a 1-0 lead.

The Revs possessed the ball for 54.5 percent of the first half and had six shots, with Borrero’s strike the only one on target. New England completed 86.2 percent of its 311 passes in the first 45 minutes.

The Dynamo had six shots in the first half, but just three were on target. Houston completed 83.1 percent of its 260 first-half passes.

New England doubled its lead eight minutes into the second half. After taking a pass from Carles Gil, DeJuan Jones slid a pass across the goalmouth to a wide-open Wood, who placed it into the back of the net.

Bye secured the win when he collected a crossing pass from Latif Blessing before sliding a perfectly-placed shot inside the near post past Clark.

New England will play at LAFC on March 12, while Houston is off next week and doesn’t return to the field until it hosts Austin on March 18.
