The XFL is investigating whether an Orlando Guardians player gave plays from his team’s playbook to an opponent, multiple outlets reported Friday.

Fox News Digital identified the player as quarterback Quinten Dormady. The league did not name him, saying only a Guardians player was released from the team on Thursday and reinstated on Friday, according to a statement from the XFL.

“The league is actively reviewing a personnel issue regarding a player on the Orlando Guardians who was released from the team yesterday afternoon,” the statement said. “Additional information on the situation was brought to the attention of the league overnight, and the league has reinstated the player while it conducts a formal investigation into the issue. The situation is under review, and we will share more details regarding the findings as appropriate.”

Dormady’s name was not on Orlando’s online roster as of Friday afternoon. The Guardians’ quarterbacks were listed as NFL veteran and former first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch and Deondre Francois.

Dormady, 27, has played in one game for the Guardians, completing 12 of 18 pass attempts for 142 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Guardians are 0-2 on the season.

Dormady played high school football in Texas, then spent three seasons at Tennessee (2015-17) before transferring to Houston. He played just one game at Houston in 2018, redshirted the season and transferred to Central Michigan in 2019 for his final college season.

After college, he played briefly with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League.
