PGA and LPGA players will come together in December to participate a mixed-team, co-sanctioned tournament.

The Grant Thornton Invitational will be held Dec. 8-10 at Tiburon Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Naples courses in Tiburon, Fla. The players from each tour will compete for equal prizes for the first time since 1999, when John Daly and Laura Davies won the JCPenney Classic.

The 32-player field — 16 from the PGA and 16 from the LPGA tours — will compete for a share of the $4 million purse. NBC and the Golf Channel will televise the event.

“PGA Tour athletes playing alongside the best athletes from the LPGA Tour is going to be incredible for our fans,” Tony Finau, a five-time PGA Tour winner, said in a news release. “They’ve been wanting something like this for a long time. Our fans deserve it.”
