The Dallas Cowboys and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore mutually agreed to part ways, NFL Network and the Dallas Morning News reported Sunday night.

According to the Morning News, head coach Mike McCarthy will assume play-calling duties for the Cowboys.

Moore, 34, had been a player and coach with the Cowboys since 2015. He spent the final three years of his six-year NFL playing career as a backup quarterback for Dallas.

After working 2018 as the Cowboys’ quarterback coach, Moore was promoted to offensive coordinator and spent the past four seasons in that role.

The Cowboys went 12-5 in the 2022 regular season and earned their second straight playoff trip. After beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-14 in the wild-card round, they fell 19-12 to the San Francisco 49ers in last week’s divisional round game.

Dallas ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring offense in 2022 with 27.5 points per game.

The Cowboys will begin searching for a replacement for Moore, one who will not be responsible for calling plays. Moore, meanwhile, has attracted interviews for head-coaching vacancies before and figures to be a popular commodity. He interviewed with the Carolina Panthers this month before that franchise hired Frank Reich to be their next head coach.

The Cowboys also parted with six assistant coaches late last week. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is returning to the staff for 2023.
