NHL: Rangers sign D Ben Harpur to 2-year extension

The New York Rangers signed defenseman Ben Harpur to a two-year extension on Thursday.

The Rangers did not announce financial terms, but reports put the value at $1.575 million.

Harpur, 28, began the season at AHL Hartford. He has a goal and two assists plus six penalty minutes in 18 games since getting called up.

Overall, Harpur has 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) in 174 career games with Ottawa, Nashville and the Rangers.

The Senators selected him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.
