The Houston Dynamo announced the signing of free agent defender Franco Escobar on Thursday.

The two-time MLS champion is signed through 2024 with a club option for 2025.

The 27-year-old Argentina native won the 2022 MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield with Los Angeles FC and the 2018 MLS Cup with Atlanta United FC.

“Franco is a winner in our league. Since coming to MLS in 2018, he has won every major domestic trophy available, including two MLS Cups, a Supporters’ Shield, Campeones Cup, and the U.S. Open Cup,” Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said. “He will strengthen our backline and provide valuable experience to our locker room. We are thrilled that Franco chose Houston in the next step in his career.”

Escobar had one goal and one assist in 19 games (13 starts) with LAFC last season.

The right back has three goals and six assists in 82 games (71 starts) with Atlanta United (2018-20) and LAFC.
