Hawks guard Dejounte Murray exited Atlanta’s game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain and will not return.

Murray played just over three minutes before heading to the locker room early in the first quarter. He scored two points.

Prior to Wednesday, Murray was averaging 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the field through 24 games. He is in his first season with the Hawks, who were 13-11 entering Wednesday.

Bogdan Bogdanovic and Justin Holiday could take on an expanded role in the backcourt in Murray’s absence.
